Time for a Break

My life has just been a whirl wind of one thing right after the other. Some good. Some bad. All though all has molded me and shaped me into the woman I am today and I am thankful for each and every thing. Lately life has been so busy with this non-profit I have hardly had time to think or spend time with my family. So today we leave for a week at the beach to do nothing but hang-out with each other, play games, watch movies, swim, and think about nothing but ourselves and our family. I am so excited for this down time. No computers allowed, so sorry guys I will update you on life as soon as we return. 🙂 Have a great week and thank you so much for your prayers and encouragement it means the world to me.

Don’t forget to Pray :)

Just a little reminder not to forget to arm yourself with God before you roll yourself out of bed in the morning!!! 🙂 Have a fantastic day and remember you have the Authority to Stomp all over Satan just like the songs say….”I command you Satan in the name of the Lord to pick up your weapons and flee, cause God has given me the Authority to walk all over thee!!!

Just One 80 Year Old Woman!!!

It has truly been an exciting few days. We held yet another Rummage to raise money to get our start-up costs to open our non-profit and although it is a slow process I am blessed daily by the interaction among the community. I am reminded every day that people are full of generosity and that there is still way more good in this world than bad no matter what we see on the news everyday.

Let me just share with you the blessing of one 80-year-old woman whom I will never forget. On the second day of our rummage we had just finished setting up and low and behold it started raining. Now this shouldn’t shock me considering I live in Oregon, but unfortunately silly me was not prepared for rain and had to start grabbing sheets and blankets and covering whatever I could up. I was so frustrated and wasn’t sure if we should pack it all in or pray for the best. Well we decided to pray for the best, and as always God answered. Before it even stopped raining good, with everything still covered up people started pulling into the rummage sale just from the intrigue of what was under the sheets. I had to laugh out loud.

One of the customers that pulled up was my new friend 80-year-old Lil. She looked around for a minute and motioned me over to her asking me prices of somethings that weren’t marked and then telling me just to walk with her in case she had other questions. Then she went through and started pointing, “I want that, that, oh yes and that, oh don’t forget that.” she says. Once she has paid for her purchases and everything is sacked she thanx us and heads to her car. Then she comes back, “you know I have tons of sacks at home, could your son come home with me and I’ll bring him back with them?” Now any other time I would have said no, but I couldn’t tell this woman no if my life depended on it. She takes my son to her house which is just up the street and brings him back with tons of sacks and newspapers for wrapping breakables. At this time she had to leave and head to DMV to renew her handicap licence and about an hour later here she comes again.

Now she made me smile because she was grinning ear from ear, “Tammy come here” she motions me to her van. ” I can’t believe I did this” she says with a voice full of excitement as her face lights up with pride. ” I went to ace hardware with your flier and asked them to donate a roll of plastic in case it rains again. He told me no I’m sorry we have already given all the donations we can this quarter. I asked him now who told you that? He says the big boss. I say who your Dad? (LOL) He says no actually my Mom.” At this I just had to laugh. She continues on, “Tammy I told him to please go call his mother and ask because this is a great cause and guess what she was in the back room so he went and asked her and she donated a roll and I bought you a roll. Hopefully it’s enough to cover your tables.” She then proceeded to tell me the best way to utilize it and exactly what to do.

Now I just want to cry, not only because she thought so much of our cause but because she went out of her way to help us. I don’t think she will ever know just how deeply her small gesture touched my life. I made sure to leave her a thank you note on her front door the next day since my son had gone to her house we knew where she lived. But just that sweet gesture made my entire weekend. And that wasn’t even the only act of kindness. People have been showing up with donations, calling us for pick ups, giving us tons of ideas and praying for us. I feel so extremely blessed and if there was ever any doubt in my mind that this was God’s leading it’s gone. He has over and over again confirmed that it is His will. And as scary as it is to step out on faith knowing that my husband is leaving a well-paying job with benefits and we have nothing but our faith to live on, I know it’s what we are supposed to do. I know God has it all in control and he reminds me every day.

This is what we are meant to be doing, this is where our hearts have always been. We fought against it due to fear but the funny thing about it is God ALWAYS gets His way!!! 🙂

I hope my story blesses you in some way, and that when you wake up tomorrow you wake up and prepare yourself to look for the good in people instead of the bad. That you expect the good to over shadow the bad and that you remember that you have the authority to walk all over Satan and not allow his negativity and lies into your life. Go out and find the good and if you can’t find it create it!!! God bless. xoxoxo

He has it covered 🙂 It’s truly up to us!

“…If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth.” (Mark 9:23)

Do we really understand the power of believing? To believe, according to the dictionary is “to accept as true or real;” or “to have firm faith…” Far too often we all have heard someone saying, ‘I can’t believe that’. But what are they really saying? As I pointed out in an earlier blog, The Words We Speak; our words have power and they will either work for us or against us. The power is in us and the choice is entirely ours.

Our lives have been built entirely upon the words we have spoken, which comes from the thoughts we have, which are based upon what we believe. That which we believe in our hearts will dominate the thoughts in our heads and those things we spend time thinking about will ultimately begin to be…

Become the First Me, Rather than the next Anyone Else! Jason Mayden (Nike)

We can allow circumstances in our life to tear us down, or build us up. In that moment when you have a choice to go left or right, it is up to you to rise above life’s circumstances and become the first “you”. Find your purpose, find your strength and build on it.

This is what I get from watching this clip. This amazing man of God has a story that will break you into tears, but his faith and his desire to live has brought him to where he is today. I remember hearing him speak for the first time and just simply being in awe of his story. He stood in front of our church and laid himself bare. It was powerful and I will carry it with me always.

We have to embrace life, not fear it! We have to like Jason said in the video “embrace the power of being you”. That is the end of his speech and only part of a sentence but it is the part that stood out to me. What does it mean to you to “embrace the power of being you”? I think I will roll that one around in my head a little longer, it might just be my next blog post. 🙂

I hope you enjoy the video as much as I did. Happy Sunday!

Living In Your Purpose!!!!

Good Morning Friends! I just finished watching T.D. Jakes Living In Your Purpose this morning and once again I find myself receiving confirmation that I am finally living the life God intended. There are many people who think my husband and I are crazy, that we don’t realize what we are doing, and that we are going to crash and burn. We can see it in their face expressions when we talk to them, their body language laughs at us, and the words they speak to others prove it. What I realized today though is that they will never get it. They will never understand what it is for us to walk in our purpose. To stand firmly on the Word of God and to move forward in faith even when the circumstances don’t make sense.

Let me just tell you, when you know something is of God you don’t ignore it!! We are purposed to serve, to step behind ourselves and put others before us. We are purposed to spread God’s love and in doing this we are spreading the Word of God. We are purposed to reach beyond our own lives and serve the needs of others.

T.D. Jakes preached today about when he first began the rise to fame and all the haters that came out of the woodwork. He talked about how all the negativity began to kill his desire to get up and do what he knew he was supposed to be doing. The naysayers, the haters, were drowning him. Until one day after one of his services a young woman requested to talk to him. He made her wait and wait and wait to see him, he didn’t really want to speak with her. Finally he went to her and she began to tell her story to him.

The young woman had been in the hospital, she was pregnant with twins that were dying inside her and making her very sick. She laid in the hospital day after day getting sicker and sicker, but she said what kept her pushing, what kept her alive was his sermons. Every time she wanted to let go, his sermons gave her strength to press forward. She told him, “Bishop it’s for us, not for them”. This woman had waited, frail and sick, for who knows how long to meet T.D. Jakes, just to tell him, “Bishop it’s for us, not for them”.

When he was preaching about this all I could see was the powerful way God works. The young woman who that day was not there for her, she wasn’t standing in front of this famous preacher because she wanted to meet him or because she wanted something from him. She stood in her frailty to remind this man WHY, why he woke up every morning and walked in his purpose. Why he stood in front of thousands, millions to preach the gospel while haters where out there tearing him down. She stood in front of him that day to remind him that it wasn’t about the haters, it wasn’t even about him, it was about all those like her, that were fighting for a reason to believe, to have faith.

That was so powerful to me. I am not here to serve the selfish needs of the haters. I am not here to change people’s minds, to force them into my way of life, into what I believe. I am not here for me. I am here to spread the love of God, to share with the hurting, to hold them, to remind them that HE IS ALIVE.

I look at where I am in life right this minute and I’ll tell you it’s scary, yet at the same time I have the most peace in my life than I have ever had because I know God’s will for my life. My husband has a good job, we have a family of six, we have full medical benefits, we have security and yet at this point in our lives we are ready to step out on faith. We are ready to let go of the security of a paycheck, of benefits, and trust completely that God has our back. Our purpose has become so much a part of who we are we can’t fathom not walking in it.

We are praying for things in our lives that most people would run from and most people would think we are crazy for. But I am here today to tell you that God is good and when you walk in His purpose for your life you can’t go wrong.

Do you know what your purpose is?
